Ghost In The Shell

Ghost In The Shell

Ghost In The Shell is a 2017 American science fiction action film which story is based on 1995 Japanese anime of the same name by Masamune Shirow. The story was set in a near future when people can use technic to transfer their brain into a robot body, by this method people could have eternal life which also refers back to the name Ghost in the Shell.
This live version movie is quite matched with Japanese anime version, specially when it comes to the main purpose of the movie. Which is are we still the same person, if one day technic can make a human spirt or ghost inside a robot body shell just like in the movie. The whole idea is that since your body is man made robot, how can you be so sure your brain is still the one you owned before. Like the Major in the film, she used to be the opponents of this kind of transformation. However, after she been executed, all her memories has been replaced by fake one so that she can accept what she is now. And can be more easily controlled by company that made her.
In the end, Major gets back her own memories and won her live back again, which is actually quite different ending compares to 1995 anime version. Maybe this ending is perfect for a two hours movie, but personally I prefer the anime version ending. Because it gives audiences even more thinking. In anime version, Major completed fusion with Hadley an artificial intelligence who evolved self-awareness. The anime version ending leads audiences an idea that is what or why human beings is different to machine or robot, if everything we had for our body is transferred to be perfect functional machine. In fact, the imperfect made us human beings, because each person had their iconic limit that marked us different to each other. If everyone be the same with the help of robot, then how can we differentiated each other.
